June 12, 2017
An email communication brought to you by the
Seventh-day Adventist Church in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! In nature, spring and summer always seem to bring a flurry of new life and activity following a long, hard winter. No less is true in the gospel ministry, especially in Newfoundland and Labrador! Many things are happening within the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Newfoundland and Labrador (SDACNL) this summer that we want you to be aware of…

CAMP WOODY ACRES
Camp Meeting July 21-29, 2017

“Practicing the Presence of Jesus” is the theme for this year’s Camp Meeting. You will not want to miss the spiritually uplifting messages and bible studies from some of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s most personable pastors, chaplains, and leading scholars. This Camp Meeting is an appropriate time to invite friends and work associates as your guests. It is also a place to meet new friends, connect with old ones from across the province, and gain spiritual encouragement and renewal. You will want to be sure to check out the speakers lined up for this year and pick up a registration form at your nearest Seventhday Adventist Church or visit us on the web at www.nlsdaconference.org.

Junior and Teen Camps
Don’t forget to register your child or teen for Junior or Teen Camp! Summer Camp is a time for fun, activities, friends, reflection, nature, and growth. Camp Woody Acres offers all these, but most of all, it offers the opportunity to grow in your knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ. Activities include rock climbing, swimming, water skiing, tubing, zip line, music, ceramics, canoeing, nature, friends, and more.

Register by July 14 to guarantee your camp t-shirt. First time campers receive 50% off registration fees.
Camp dates are as follows:

1. Junior Camp Ages 9-13 (August 13-20)

Board of Directors Approves Budget for Extension of Power Lines & Construction of New
Maintenance Building

On May 28, the SDACNL Board of Directors approved the extension of the power lines and the building of a maintenance building on the west side of Woody Acres. What this means when completed is the camp will be set up for the next step of power potentially being made available to the cabins and trailers on this side of the camp ground. It is the objective to have the projects completed before the snow flies in the fall of 2017.

PERSONNEL CHANGES

GANDER: Pastor Resignation, New Ministry Role, and Back-to-School

The SDACNL Board of Directors, last meeting, voted to accept the resignation of Pastor Jon-Ross Ennest from the Gander district, effective June 30, 2017. The SDACNL Board expresses their deepest appreciation to Pastor Ennest, and wife Tara, for the hard work and diligence they have displayed and which has had such a positive influence in Gander and the NL province.

NL MISSION: New Communications Director and Administrative Assistant

The SDACNL Board of Directors, last meeting, voted to extend an invitation to Pastor Eric Ollila to join the SDACNL staff as Communication Director and Administrative Assistant, effective Sept 1, 2017. Pastor Eric's skills in media will contribute toward improving communication to the churches, by administration, and improving the use of media for presenting the SDACNL’s programs and ministries before the public. We welcome Pastor Eric and Lucy to a new chapter in ministry and express our appreciation for his seven years and her five years of service to the members of the St John's Church.

VOAR TOWER SITE
Kenmount Road Crown Land Application Approved

It has been a long time coming. After three-plus years of waiting for a reply since the SDACNL administration and VOAR management submitted application requesting the option to purchase an additional ½ - ¾ of an acre of Crown land off Kenmount Road, adjacent to its currently owned tower site in Mount Pearl, the Crown Lands Administration approved the application.

If acquired, the land will be an important addition for at least two reasons. It will help provide adequate buffer space between the neighbor’s property and the proposed new SDACNL/VOAR Office-Recording Studio and FM Tower additions. It will also help provide additional space for parking. The next steps include getting a survey of the land, negotiating an acceptable price, and then to obtain SDACNL Board authorization to purchase the land.
